Church boards are responsible for many aspects of a church's operations, including: 

  • · Leadership: Church boards provide leadership and accountability for the church's pastor and other members. 
  • · Decision making: Church boards make significant decisions about the church's operations, including policies, goals, and          budgets. 
  • · Financial management: Church boards oversee the church's financial affairs, including establishing financial systems and    accountability controls. 
  • · Spiritual support: Church boards provide spiritual support and counsel to the pastor. 
  • · Governance: Church boards establish operational boundaries to ensure the church's integrity. 
  • · Resource management: Church boards manage resources for the church. 
  • · Community engagement: Church boards engage with the community. 

Church boards can be made up of a variety of members, including:

clergy, lay leaders, Pastors, Boards, like, secretary, treasurer, external advisors or consultants, committee representatives, and elders or deacons.

The primary responsibility of an elder is to serve as a manager and caretaker of the church (1 Tim. 3:5). That involves a number of specific duties. As spiritual overseers of the flock, elders are to determine church policy (Acts 15:22); oversee the church (Acts 20:28); ordain others (1 Tim.
